The Headliner: Mendoza Takes No. 15

It’s only fitting that the face of this draft class gets the most recognizable number. Fernando Mendoza will wear No. 15 — the same number he wore at Indiana, and a number with real Raiders history. Hall of Fame quarterback and former Raiders head coach Tom Flores wore 15 as a player, and he personally passed the torch to Mendoza at the draft.

The last Raiders to wear it: Kenny Pickett and Gardner Minshew in recent years. The weight of that number just got a lot heavier.

The Standouts

Malik Benson — No. 19: A 4.37 forty and he gets a 1 — clean speed registration. The vertical threat will look right at home in Silver and Black.

Jermod McCoy — No. 28: Falling to the fourth round after being considered a first-round talent makes 28 feel like a steal. The Raiders are getting a corner who can lock down WR1s.

Treydan Stukes — No. 31: A 4.33 safety with 4 interceptions last season. The Raiders secondary just got a lot faster.

Trey Zuhn III — No. 66: Third-round offensive lineman — the trenches continue to be a priority for this front office.

WALK THE PLANK

There is something about a draft class all getting their numbers at once that makes it feel real. These aren’t just names on a board anymore — they’re going to walk into the facility with digits on their backs and start the work of becoming Raiders.

Mendoza in 15 is the obvious headline. But watch the way this fan base claims Jermod McCoy in 28 over the next few years. A top-15 talent falling to 101, now wearing a number that fits the secondary rebuild? That one is going to resonate.

The AFC West doesn’t take an offseason. Mahomes, Herbert, that offense in Denver. But the Raiders just added 10 new players with numbers, and every single one of them is going to have something to say about how this division shapes up.
